KARACHI:

Senior government officials have stated that linking the potential release of PTI founder Imran Khan to the US elections, and the recent results, is mere speculation.

They believed that cases against him were still under consideration in the courts, and that his release was a legal matter on the local level.

The officials continued that these cases would be concluded according to the law, and the government would not accept any dictation from a foreign country on this matter.

They expect that ties with the new US administration, under President Donald Trump, would improve, and the country planned to continue its policy of maintaining relations on an even footing.

After Donald Trump's victory in the US presidential elections, Pakistani officials are assessing potential global changes and their impact, taking into account past, present, and future scenarios to understand the possible policies of his regime.

In the past, Pakistan's relations with the United States, during Donald Trump's presidency, were relatively better. The federal government, following Trump's election as president, is expected to shape its strategy regarding relations with the US, keeping in mind the policies of his administration towards Pakistan.
