The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) police have apprehended a suspect allegedly connected to several bank heist cases in the capital.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Syed Ali Raza announced the arrest during a press briefing at the Rescue 15 headquarters on Monday.
The suspect, identified as Suleiman, was taken into custody along with a stash of stolen cash, weapons, ammunition, and the motorcycle used in the robbery, he disclosed.
The arrest followed an intensive five-day operation spearheaded by the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) and Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), which used a combination of human intelligence, Safe City camera footage, digital surveillance, and data analysis to locate and capture the accused.
DIG Raza revealed that the suspect was also wanted in Punjab for similar crimes.
The DIG commended the dedication and thorough efforts of the police teams in solving the case.
He emphasised Islamabad Capital Territory police's commitment to the security of every citizen, home, and workplace in the capital, noting a significant decrease in the city's crime rate.
To honour the teams' hard work, Islamabad IGP Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi has announced rewards for the officers involved in this successful operation.
