ISLAMABAD:

Former senator and federal minister Javed Jabbar, known for his influential work in media, film, and writing, unveiled his latest books, Streams and Shade & Light, at a gathering recently held by the Islamabad Policy Research Institute (IPRI).

The launch attracted a diverse audience of diplomats, academics, literary enthusiasts, and retired service personnel.

In his remarks, Jabbar emphasised the need to address media issues with practical solutions and spoke about the value of writing as a form of introspection.

"Writing is all about communicating with yourself," observed the author, who has penned 21 books to date. He argued that content's intrinsic value is what counts, rather than reader popularity.

Streams is a compilation of Jabbar's writings from 2016 to 2023, covering topics such as media, culture, the environment, and international relations.

Shade & Light, meanwhile, offers reflections on the legacy of Pakistan's founder, along with insights on ideology, national identity, security, and Pakistan's relations with neighbouring countries.
