Army Major arrested in Pakistan Railways copper heist case
PR authorities said a train with copper wire was sent from Khanewal to Lahore where the wire was to be stored at Mughalpura Workshop, however the train, was sent to Kharian where the copper wire worth millions of rupees was stolen.
The army said that Major Ayub was arrested for his alleged involvement in the scam and a complete investigation will be conducted in the case.
Five other people, including a PR officer, were also arrested in the scam.
Earlier, in a similar case, the parliamentary sub committee for PR land had pointed the finger at the Lahore divisional superintendent (DS) and other officers over the theft of copper from a freight coach where in the coach was found abandoned and empty of copper at Kharian a few hours after it was stolen from a station in Lahore.
The federal government had announced an assistance package worth Rs11 billion to rescue the PR, that has come under fire for incurring losses worth billions due to mismanagement and corruption.
Earlier addressing a news conference after presiding over a meeting of PR officials on Saturday, Federal Minister for Railways Ghulam Ahmed Bilour had said that the main cause of the crisis was PR’s diminishing income from its cargo service, as the income from the passenger service was not its main source of revenue.

Do you think Army would disgrace itself by blaming and dragging an innocent person ? How could you be so certain that he is innocent? After all He has confessed that he was mastermind behind this .Those who try to defend him are also part of the crime.Allah has punished him for all his wrong doings and the only way for him is to repent ans ask Allah for mercy. Yes he belongs to a strong family but he brings the whole family of generals,colonels , brigadiers to disgrace.

PAKISTAN Railways General Manager Operations has appreciated the efforts made by DS Railways Javed Anwar Bubak for tracking the lost copper wagon. In a letter of appreciation, he specially acknowledged the efficiency and dedication of the DS Railways Lahore as the recovery at a very short time could not have been possible without his prompt action. The GM Railways praised commitment of DS Railways and his honest efforts which he contributed towards PR.

i know this guy personally.he was very sweet n helpful.i dont know wht really happened but my best wishes n prayers r u with major saab.

Pak Armys Major Ayub, who was found guilty of theft of copper wire in a Railway Bogie has been dismissed from the service, according to a press release by ISPR The dismissed officer has also been ordered to deposit his share of the embezzled amount in the government treasury.
Surprised to read in the article "EARLIER IN A SIMILAR CASE'" . This reflects poor reporting of the correspondent of the The Express Tribune. Major arrested in the same case in which committee pointed finger to DS. As covered by all the media this was case of document fraud and using those fraudulently prepared documents using letter head of GHQ bogey was moved to Kharian.Now all civilians and major involved are arrested.Sub committee wrongly pointed finger to the DS . Subcommittee Chairperson's comments reflected her poor knowledge of cargo documentation and procedures relating to cargo booking,handling and delivery.Wrong delivery and movement of the bogey was managed by fraudulently prepared documents.Chairperson's comment that copper was unloaded and sold in Lahore division and empty bogey was moved to Kharian was proved wrong.One should be little careful in giving comments to avoid embarrassment later on.
*HmMmm...! Major Ayub is not the guilty, his name has been used by his family members. His character is innocent here. He was just perusing the matter to save someone's job there! He had no idea, this would be done with him. I pray for his safe come back!

Trust me, this Major is very respectable and he's NOT involved in this case, infact he has been dragged into it. I personally know him, his family and his conduct. He has always been very kind and helping to others. May Allah keep him safe and help him in getting out of this critical situation... Aamin!

Poor guy got into a petty theft, if he was do it at a bigger level with his brotheren, he could have been saved in the name of national security interest:)
One can't blame the poor Major who must be envious of his seniors owning tons of money, chose the the dubious mean to become rich overnight.

Army officers should keep themselves to property dealing. Theft in other departments is not their cup of tea. Civilian theives are smarter than them..

Something is wrong with this news. I thought it were only civilians who were eating away railways, PIA and other organizations? Poor major needs more perks than the DHA and others.
This is a maligned attempt to defame the Army. Disciplined officers do not behave in this way!
