Earthquake shakes Iran's Garmsar causing damage, tremors felt in Tehran
A 4.8 magnitude earthquake struck Garmsar, located in Semnan Province, eastern Tehran, at 5:16 am local time, originating from a depth of 11 kilometers.
The quake resulted in significant damage, leading to power and internet outages in many homes.
Reza Khani, the Governor of Garmsar, confirmed that emergency response teams are on standby and urged residents to remain calm and follow safety measures.
While the tremor was frightening, there have been no reports of injuries at this time.
Authorities have sent assessment teams to the affected areas to evaluate the damage and offer assistance.
Residents are advised to stay alert and adhere to safety guidelines to ensure their safety. The tremor was also felt in Tehran, approximately 100 kilometres away.
