Rapper Young Thug’s release from prison has set social media ablaze, with fellow artists and fans alike flooding timelines with messages of excitement and support.

The rapper, who was sentenced to 15 years of probation after entering a no-contest plea on racketeering and other charges, spent the last two years in custody following his May 2022 arrest as part of a major RICO case in Georgia.

Following his release, a FaceTime call with rapper T.I. captured Thug flashing a wide grin, with fans embracing the heartwarming moment shared by the two artists.

The hashtag #YoungThug quickly trended, with fans noting the significance of the call in a highly anticipated homecoming.

Celebrities wasted no time celebrating Thug’s release on their platforms. Travis Scott posted a throwback picture with the rapper on Instagram, captioning it, “bruddda otw home,” as a tribute to their friendship.

Metro Boomin, who frequently collaborated with Young Thug, also took to Instagram stories with a series of photos in homage to the rapper’s return.

Fellow rapper T.I., one of Thug’s earliest supporters, shared a carousel of photos with the caption: “Welcome Home lil bruddah. It’s been too long... Time to get back to it!!! #KingJeffrey @thuggerthugger1.”

Meanwhile, Thug’s girlfriend, Mariah the Scientist, expressed gratitude to Judge Paige Whitaker for the court's favorable decision, sharing that the outcome was “more than she expected.” Mariah also extended thanks to Thug’s legal team, Brian Steel and Keith Adams, for their tireless efforts, acknowledging the support from fans who stood by them.

Among the many tributes, Kid Cudi and Kanye West also weighed in. Kanye took to social media with a now-deleted post, initially stating “God is good!!” before updating it to “Praise God!”

Kid Cudi followed with a series of heartfelt tweets, expressing relief and appreciation for Thug’s safe return home.

However, Young Thug’s release comes with strict probationary terms. In addition to serving four anti-gang and anti-gun presentations annually in Atlanta, he is prohibited from promoting gang-related content or associating with known gang members, aside from his brother and Gunna.

While restricted from the Atlanta Metro area for a decade, he may return for family events, such as weddings or funerals, with allowances to travel for work.

The rap community’s resounding support for Young Thug’s freedom reflects the impact of his artistry and influence, with fans and artists alike celebrating this pivotal moment in his journey forward.
