RAWALPINDI:

The Mandra police have traced a blind murder case, arresting one killer and recovering the remains of the body.

The suspect along with his accomplices killed his friend Rasheed Haroon of Sarai Alamgir in July over a transaction dispute, dismembered his body and hid it in a deserted place near Kalyam.

According to the police, the victim's son Muhammad Usman complained to the police station on July 12 that his father Rasheed Haroon was driving from Sarai Alamgir to a private housing society in Rawalpindi. When he became free, Raja Adeel and others were in contact with him.

The suspect(s) called his father at Kalyam. When the complainant contacted his father the latter informed that he was with Raja Adeel and would come back in the morning.

The next day, when Usman called his father's number, his mobile phone set was switched off. When he contacted Raja Adeel and his accomplice Owais, they told Usman that they dropped his father at the stand to return.

But the victim didn't reach home even for two days. Upon being contacted again, Raja Adeel told Usman that his father was picked up by the agency. However, the complainant suspected his father was abducted by Raja Adeel and others.

After registering the case, Rawalpindi City Police Officer (CPO) Khalid Hamdani constituted a police team to trace the kidnappers. The police team obtained the data of the kidnapper and the accused nominated in the FIR through geo-fencing and the mobile phone calls of those who were in constant contact with the abductee.

Ghulam Abbas, who was among the friends, who were in contact with the victim, was also investigated along with others.

The accused with the alleged connivance of Raja Adeel and others not only shot and killed the abductee in his house, but also chopped his body into pieces with the help of his accomplices and buried the body at a desolate place. Abbas later pinpointed the said location to the police.

When contacted, Mandra SHO Chaudhary Zulfiqar said that Raja Adeel and one accomplice were on bail, while two others had fled abroad. He said that the process of issuing a red notice for their arrests had been initiated. Saddar SP Nabeel Khokhar said that the arrested accused would be challaned with concrete evidence and would be punished according to law.
