A special anti-terrorism court acquitted Uzair Jan Baloch and two other suspects due to a lack of evidence in a case concerning the kidnapping and murder of four individuals, including a police officer, as reported by Express News.
A special court at the anti-terrorism complex in Karachi Central Jail announced its decision in the case, pertaining to Uzair Jan Baloch, who was once running the most dangerous criminal gangs of the crime-infested area of Lyari.
Prosecutors were unable to prove charges against the gang leader and other accused, leading to the acquittal of Uzair Jan Baloch, Riaz Sarwar, and Sher Afsar.
Defence attorneys Abid Zaman and Farooq Haider Jatoi stated that Uzair Baloch had previously testified in court, denying involvement in the killings, asserting that the prosecution had no evidence against him and the other accused.
According to the police, the murder of police officer Lala Amin, Sher Afzal Khan, and Ghazi Khan took place on August 1, 2010. The victims were allegedly abducted near the Mewa Shah Cemetery and handed over to Uzair Baloch. Baloch, along with his associates Sikandar alias Siku, Sarwar Baloch, and Akbar Baloch, allegedly killed the victims and buried their bodies in the cemetery.
Uzair Baloch's associates Sikandar alias Siku, Sarwar Baloch, and Akbar Baloch were reportedly killed in encounters, and the case against them is filed at the New Town Police Station.
It’s noteworthy that Uzair Jan Baloch, former leader of the Lyari's People's Aman Committee, has been acquitted in multiple cases before.
Baloch, arrested by Rangers in 2016, faces numerous cases including charges of murder, attempted murder, extortion, and kidnapping for ransom.
