A newborn baby girl was declared dead by a leading private hospital in Hyderabad, where she was born on October 28. Parents of the baby took her home. Later, the baby showed signs of life and she moved her hands and feet.
Muhammad Rafique, the father of the infant took her to the same hospital again but the hospital staff allegedly refused to admit her. Grief-stricken father then took the baby to the Liaquat University Hospital (LUH) where she was immediately admitted and provided immediate medical care. However, the baby could not survive as many hours had passed without immediate and necessary treatment.
Rafique, with tears in his eyes, said, "Had the private hospital provided timely care to my daughter, she could have survived."
He demanded an inquiry by the health authorities in the light of the Liaquat University Hospital medical report.
Meanwhile, the report, issued by the private hospital, mentioned cardiopulmonary issue as the cause of her death. Apnea (temporary cessation of breathing) was also cited in the report as secondary reason.
