Rescue 1122 rescued a 12-year-old boy, who got stuck in a mountain rock while grazing goats in the Tehsil Kahota area of Rawalpindi, rescuers said on Thursday. Officials cut a piece of mountain and pulled out the child safely after more than eight hours of continuous operation.
The victim identified as Tayyab left his home to graze goats in Jhamitar village of Kahota on Wednesday but didn't return home until night.
The family and locals began a detailed search for the missing child and later found him trapped in the rock hole at midnight.
An attempt to pull the child out of the rock led to some injuries and swelling on the victim's body. A distress call was made and Rescue 1122 officials arrived at the scene. Rescuers launched efforts to rescue the child, but the difficult mountain path forced rescuers to walk several kilometres carrying the rescue equipment to reach the scene.
Rescuers provided the child with a safety kit and a helmet and administered a drip to gain energy.
During the rescue operation that lasted for more than 8 hours, the hole in the mountain was cut open with the help of cutting and drilling tools and finally, the child was safely removed from the rock and provided with first aid. The victim was transported to a hospital. The child's parents and locals lauded the professionalism and dedication of Rescue 1122 for the successful operation, thanking the rescue team for the safe recovery of the child.
