Move on from failed relationships, says Saba

Star approves of how Gen Z handles romance

Veteran actor Saba Hameed was invited to Mazaq Raat, where she was showered with praise for her contribution to the industry. She was asked about her thoughts on making it so far, which she credited to luck and the giving hand of God. Saba also revealed that no role has ever been easy for her, emphasising the solemnity with which she takes every opportunity.

Aside from speaking on her career, Saba had valuable personal insights to offer. When asked about her views on one-sided love, Saba said, "The thing is, I don't believe in love all that much. When two people get attracted to each other at one time, mostly between the ages of 16 and 25, that is what has been deemed love, in my opinion."

It seems that the renowned actor is well-versed in the current generation's lingo. "These days, a new term has been popularised. 'Move on.' It's a great term. It was unheard of in our generation. During the youthful years of my generation, if someone's romantic devotion failed, they'd think their next destination was death," she recalled.

"Now it's just, you move on. The past is the past. Leave it be. But I should clarify that this is better. These kids are smart and far more clever than we used to be," she admitted, lauding the systematic way in which relationships are dealt with now. "For me, personally, respecting the other person should take priority over love. To be honest, I haven't been able to discover the definition of 'love'."

The Family Front actor has been married twice, raising a family of showbiz stars in each turn. She was first tied in decade-long matrimony with Syed Parvaiz Shafi, during which she gave birth to singer Meesha Shafi and rapper Faris Shafi. In 1993, Saba married her current spouse and veteran peer Waseem Abbas, with whom she had actor Ali Abbas.
