Google is enhancing its Gmail platform by introducing the “Help me write” feature for users on the web.
This functionality aims to streamline the email composition process, enabling users to create new drafts or modify existing emails with ease.
When users open a blank draft in Gmail, they will see a prompt inviting them to utilise the “Help me write” feature. This is similar to the feature available on mobile devices.
However, it is important to note that access to this AI tool is limited to users who subscribe to Google One AI Premium or those who have the Gemini add-on for Google Workspace.
The “Help me write” feature not only assists in generating email drafts but also offers suggestions on how to formalise, elaborate, or shorten messages. This makes it particularly useful for users looking to enhance the professionalism of their correspondence or simply save time when composing emails.
In addition to the drafting capabilities, Google is introducing a “polish” shortcut that will be available for drafts containing over 12 words. Users can quickly refine their emails by clicking on the shortcut or using the keyboard command Ctrl + H. This functionality is designed to help users improve their email content swiftly, ensuring clarity and professionalism.
On mobile devices, the existing “Refine my draft” shortcut will be replaced with the new “polish” option. When users swipe to access this feature, the app will automatically refine the message without requiring additional input. Users can then make further adjustments using Google’s other AI editing tools.
Google has announced that the rollout of the “Help me write” feature and the new “polish” shortcut will commence today. The company plans to gradually make these tools available to users over the coming days.
With the integration of Gemini AI into Gmail, users can look forward to a more efficient email drafting process.
