A Timothée Chalamet lookalike, Matt Mannix, has spoken out following his arrest during a viral lookalike contest held in New York City’s Washington Square Park on October 27. The event, organized by YouTuber Anthony Po, drew a crowd of over 2,000 spectators, eager to see who could best channel Chalamet’s distinctive style.

However, the large gathering caught the attention of NYPD, resulting in Mannix’s arrest and a $500 fine for Po for holding an unpermitted event. Mannix, who attended for “fun,” was charged with disorderly conduct, trespassing, and failing to comply with police directions.

In a statement to Teen Vogue, Mannix described the experience as “absolutely wild,” recalling how an officer held him in place and avoided answering his questions about detention.

Despite the incident, Mannix shared that HBO reached out to him regarding a potential casting call, bringing an unexpected silver lining to the viral moment. The unusual contest, which included a surprise appearance from Chalamet himself, has since made waves online as fans react to the incident.
