Known for keeping his private life firmly to himself, actor Gohar Rasheed has kept the rumour mill alive with questions about his relationship: is he or is he not involved with anyone? Now, in an interview with fellow actor Ushna Shah last week, Gohar has laid all those rumours to rest: he is, indeed, in a committed relationship.
"I am not single," admitted the famously reserved Jannat Se Aagay actor straight off the bat. For those clamouring for more details, however, a smiling Gohar has remained typically tight-lipped. Fans have been speculating whether or not the mystery lady who has won over his heart is fellow actor Kubra Khan. However, Gohar left no breadcrumbs. Instead, carefully shielding the identity of the lady whose heart he has managed to win over, the actor added that a wedding would be on the cards "soon".
As a 40-year-old, Gohar, known for his humility and down-to-earth demeanour, may have left a wedding later than is conventional, but he maintains that he has a far better understanding of human nature than he did when he was younger. Gohar is of the firm belief that thanks to the chance he has had to mature over the years, he is at the stage in life where he actively strives to make the right choices.
"I don't think I'm a very spiritual man, but there's been a certain level of maturity in emotions and empathy," he muses. "Everyone goes through a certain phase, but now I have a better understanding. Call it empathy, spirituality, wisdom – they all mean the same thing: that you try to be a better human being. Yes, there are mistakes, but I try to do the right thing."
Being mature, however, in no way means that Gohar has also embraced the art of being boring. A self-professed funny man known to prank his friends, he adds, "If your friends don't 'rag' on you, who else will?"
