HARIPUR:

Police arrested a woman and her son for allegedly kidnapping, subjecting to severe torture, attempting to murder a four-year-old girl and abandoning her in a deep ditch in Banda Munir Khan.

Locals informed the police that 4-year-old Zarnisha, a daughter of a resident of Banda Munir Khan, was abducted by unknown persons near her house. The family members searched and found her in a critical condition in the fields.

Political and social circles, including the police, expressed their anger on Sunday after the news of the girl's abduction and torture went viral.

Village Council Chairman Maqbool Awan showed support and provided humanitarian aid to the victim and her family late into the night. The victim was taken to the Haripur Trauma Centre but doctors referred her to Ayub Medical Complex.
