Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has staged a protest outside the Karachi Press Club against the imprisonment of Imran Khan and the 26th constitutional amendment, in which former President Arif Alvi, Khurram Sher Zaman, Raja Azhar, Jamal Siddiqui, President of Women Wing Sindh Sarina Khan, General Secretary Kanwal Ijaz, Senior Vice President Irum Butt, Vice President Shazia Imran, Secretary Information Sofia Khan, Deputy Secretary Information Irum Riaz and other women were present.
The speakers said purpose of the protest is to put an end to the fascism. The most important thing is that our Chairman Imran Khan has been unjustly imprisoned and ban has been imposed on meeting him, which is worrying the nation as well as the party leaders. The struggle to get Khan Sahab out will continue he comes out. The brave people of Karachi, especially the women, recorded a peaceful protest as usual. The leadership of Sindh, leadership of Karachi, the leadership of the district, the leadership of the town, the youth wing, the lawyer's community and the women's wing all participated actively in this protest.
Former member of the National Assembly Alamgir Khan was detained by the police at the beginning of the protest.
Meanwhile, a lawyer associated with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has filed a petition against the 26th constitutional amendment.
Ashraf Sammon Advocate has submitted that this amendment constitutes an attack on the independence of the judiciary by the establishment. He said an amendment has been brought in which targets the judiciary - an essential pillar of our state. The petition aims to fight for the independence and supremacy of the judiciary. The basis of this constitutional petition is the 1973 Constitution of Pakistan. The purpose of filing this petition under Article 199 is to protect the fundamental rights of every Pakistani. Sammon has also requested for the formation of a full bench to hear the petition.
