Huddle chalks out plan to end Khanpur Dam dispute

Locals of the Khanpur area have shown their frustration over the policies of the AC office and the TMA

HARIPUR:

A special meeting was held on Friday to settle the disagreements over boating at Khanpur Dam. The Khanpur Assistant Commissioner (AC) Khanpur issued instructions to relevant departments to resolve disputes immediately and promote tourism.

The Khanpur Circle DSP, the Tehsil Municipal Officer (TMO) and boating club owners attended the meeting.

Locals of the Khanpur area have shown their frustration over the policies of the AC office and the TMA. They are of the view that if institutions adhere to the rule of law, operate within their designated limits, and apply the law equally to all, there's no reason these problems can't be resolved.

The district administration is responsible for maintaining peace and preventing tensions from escalating along the banks of Khanpur Dam, they further say. Abad Khan, a local councillor also expressed his reservations in a video message.

Since locals believe that tourism must be preserved, the TMA and the AC office will need to build their reputation while maintaining neutrality. This will help to build trust among stakeholders and create a peaceful environment, they add.
