Police rescue man abducted for ransom

After the accident, four individuals in the car offered medical help and took them towards Haripur

Khanpur police have arrested a kidnapper and rescued a man abducted for a ransom of Rs10 million after an operation.

During a press briefing at Khanpur police station, SP Investigation Haripur, Jameelur Rehman, along with DSP Circle Khanpur, Muhammad Uzair, and other officers, said that the complainant, Awais Zahid, a resident of Khanpur, currently residing in Barakahu, Islamabad, reported that he was travelling with his brother Waqas Zahid and cousin Mazammil Ahmed was on his way to Islamabad from Khanpur when a car without a license number plate collided with their motorcycle at around 9:30am near Suraj Galil. As a result three of them suffered injuries.

After the accident, four individuals in the car offered medical help and took them towards Haripur. They left Mazammil Ahmed near a petrol pump and seized their mobile phones, Rs30,000 in cash and other documents at gunpoint, before heading toward Islamabad. They then left Awais in an injured condition near the Thalian Interchange on the motorway and took Zahid with them.

A case was registered on October 17 against the unknown suspects based on the complainant's report. DPO Haripur took an immediate notice of the incident.

The police team, under the supervision of SP Investigation Haripur, Jameelur Rehman initiated an investigation from various angles.
