The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to implement various measures for the welfare of prisoners. In this regard, digital marketing will be launched for handicrafts made by inmates inside the jails.
Additionally, a liaison will be established between the technical education department and prisons to facilitate necessary technical training courses in various fields. The government aims to standardize the food items provided to prisoners, improve the menu, and work on digitalizing pricing.
Furthermore, it has been decided to assist inmates in establishing small businesses after their release under the Ehsaas Youth Program loan scheme, as well as to arrange online classes for various technical courses.
In this connection, Special Assistant to Chief Minister on Prisons, Humayun Khan, Provincial Minister for Higher Education, Meena Khan Afridi, and Minister for Social Welfare, Syed Qasim Ali Shah and Special Assistant to Chief Minister on Industries, Commerce and Technical Education Abdul Karim Tordhir jointly visited Central Jail Peshawar on Thursday. They held a meeting with authorities. Member National Assembly Asif Khan, Inspector General of Jails, Usman Mehsud, Superintendent of Jails and other officials were also present on the occasion.
On this occasion, they were given a detailed briefing, while they also met prisoners in the barracks, besides inspecting the leather industry, handicrafts, embroidery, and other hand-made items, training and business places and expressed keen interest in their work.
