Lil Durk’s 'slide for Von' comments go viral after DJ Akademiks repost: "Was begging to go to jail"
Following Lil Durk’s arrest on murder-for-hire charges on October 25, 2024, DJ Akademiks shared an old interview with the rapper on X the following day, October 26, 2024.
The interview, which was conducted in 2023, featured DJ Akademiks asking Lil Durk if he was affected by the "slide for Von" comments, which were often used by fans to ask whether he planned to seek revenge for King Von's death. King Von, who was shot in November 2020, was a member of Durk's hip hop group, Only the Family (OTF).
Akademiks asked Lil Durk if he was triggered by the “slide for Von” comments during their interview last year:
“For some reason I just don’t see them comments no more” 👀 pic.twitter.com/P9fahyAhI4Responding to DJ Akademiks' question about the "slide for Von comments," Lil Durk said: “For some reason I just don’t see them comments no more.”
The reposted video by DJ Akademiks quickly attracted attention, with internet users sharing their thoughts on X.
Reflecting on Durk's expression in the video, one user tweeted: "The look on his face says a lot. Pay attention."
Another user noted, "You can see the moment of realization on ak’s face 😳."
"Lil Durk's response was cold. 👀 Guess he’s focused on bigger things now," someone else commented.
"Exhibit A. Somebody posted druski 'we got em' clip," another user remarked.
"Bro dropped 'AH HAA' for a reason. That had to be right after they killed his cousin," added another comment.
Some internet users even speculated that Durk's response about not seeing the "slide for Von" comments could imply he had already avenged King Von’s death: "Broo I remember watching this interview & was like wtf was that moment…. Now I know why," one user wrote.
"So he was begging to go to jail," another commented.
"Let’s be real. He been telling on himself," added another internet user.
Lil Durk, also known as Durk Banks, was arrested in Florida shortly after five members of his hip hop group were detained in California. These five members—Kavon London Grant, Deandre Dontrell Wilson, Keith Jones, David Brian Lindsey, and Asa Houston—face charges connected to the alleged murder of rapper Quando Rondo’s cousin in 2022.
