KARACHI:

Police rescued two suspects from a lynch mob and took them to hospital for treatment.

Three alleged robbers were looting citizens at gunpoint in a North Karachi neighbourhood, when people overpowered them. One of the suspects managed to flee, while the people fell on the other two with kicks and punches. Venting anger of so many people killed and injured by the muggers, the mob mercilessly beat the captured street criminals.

Meanwhile, a mobile squad of Khawaja Ajmer Nagri police station reached the spot and saved the robbers from the mob and transferred them to police station.

Khawaja Ajmer Nagri police station SHO Saqib Khan said the arrested robbers have been identified as Asif and Zeeshan while their escaped accomplice is known as Mujahid.

Police recovered a loaded pistol, three snatched mobile phones and a stolen motorcycle from them, SHO Khan said.

He said both the suspects have past criminal records. Asif was once injured by four bullets during the encounter with Site Super Highway Industrial Area police. He received treatment from taxpayer money and came out on bail only to commit more crime.

Regarding Zeeshan, SHO Khan said, he was earlier arrested and booked at the New Karachi police station for armed robbery. He was absconding after acquiring bail, Khan said.
