I am not calling Mirza a liar: Pir Mazharul Haq
Sindh Senior Minister Pir Mazharul Haq refused to confirm or deny the account given by his former cabinet colleague Zulfiqar Mirza about a meeting that the two of them had with Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain in which Hussain admitted to be colluding with foreign governments to break up Pakistan.
“I am not calling Mirza a liar,” said Pir Mazhar while visiting the tomb of the nation’s founder, Muhammad Ali Jinnah, on the occasion of his death anniversary.
Pir Mazhar had earlier said that, in Sindh, only those who think their words will not be believed raise the Holy Quran over their heads before saying what they want to say.
Mazhar confirmed the meeting with Hussain in London to try to negotiate a political agreement between the MQM and the ruling Pakistan Peoples Party. However, he said that “divulging details of such a meeting in public is not appropriate.”

Aren't we all muddying up the waters a bit???? What are we arguing about?? Whatever Dr. Zulfiqar Mirza has alleged Mr. Altaf Husain has also confirmed in his press conference. ZM alleged that Altaf Husain showed them a map and claimed that US & Western powers have decided to re-align the boundaries of Pakistan and that MQM will support it if that happens. That claim AH himself confirmed on the TV in his press conference and even showed the purported map. The only thing he did not confirm is that MQM intends to support that. That is the point of contention. Now, let me ask you this: who do you think MQM will support in such a scenario? If the brave General Musharraf caved in within less than couple of seconds at America's alleged threat to either back them or get ready to be returned to the stone age, how long do you think AH will take in backing the Western powers??? That's a no-brainer in my opinion. So what are we arguing about????
As far as the Pir Sahib is concerned, can you imagine, in our culture, calling your own uncle (Khaloo) a liar???? The press report should have pointed out that Fehmida Mirza (that respectable, suave, and truly honorable lady that makes us proud as the first Muslim woman speaker of a parliament in the world) is Pir Sahib's aunt, making Dr. Mirza his khaloo. How nice would it be if Dr. Mirza, who claims to have tremendous love for his wife, take a little time and learn a thing or two from her about behaviour in public!!!

Either speak the whole truth or do not speak up at all. You just muddied up the waters further for no reason other than to cause even more chaos and confusion. If Pir Mazhar wished not to comment on the matter he should have just said no comment. Neitehr confirming or denying the incident will leave both sides drawing their own conclusions and creating an even greater divide. The minister is known to have made some strange statements in the Provinial Assembly recently such as accusing his fellow members of being children who should respect him, accidentally declaring his good frind and speaker of the PA Nisar Khuhro Wajib ul Qatal and also accusing him of not honoring their friendship enough. This statement is just another continuation of that trend.
