Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has planned protests against constitutional amendments and in case the next chief justice is not the seniormost judge of the Supreme Court. A call for demonstration will be made across the country, said Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur.
He added protests will be held wherever workers are stopped, and they will reach Islamabad no matter how long it takes. "The workers will not return until the rulers step down."
He further stated that those who have betrayed the party are being identified, and show-cause notices are being issued. "After meeting with Imran Khan, the future course of action will be announced," he revealed.
While speaking to the media at the Peshawar High Court, Gandapur condemned the amendments made under the cover of darkness, calling it an attack on the independent judiciary. He said that it is their right to raise their voice and protest against such amendments, and PTI will continue to do so until the seniormost judge is appointed as the chief justice.
"For the first time in history, preferred individuals are being placed in positions to ensure favourable decisions." He also commented on the loyalty changes during the amendments, saying that his decision to not give a ticket to MNA Mubarak Zeb from Bajaur was justified, as he proved to be a traitor.
Ali Amin criticised Mubarak Zeb for betraying the people of Bajaur by selling his vote, despite receiving developmental funds and support. He said that the people of the merged district should take back their votes.
"The party is conducting inquiries and issuing show-cause notices to those who betrayed Imran Khan. Everyone who stood by the party, or fled during difficult times, is now known. The CM emphasised that in politics, everyone is accountable.
"In a family, one brother can belong to one party and another to a different party, but there are traitors, sellouts, and those with no integrity. Not everyone is the same".
He warned that a call for a nationwide protest will be given, and people from across the country will march towards the federal capital.
"If any roads are blocked, sit-ins will be held there." The chief minister noted that enduring 36 hours of teargas, firing, and rubber bullets, or going hungry and thirsty, is no joke. "The people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are courageous and have previously cleared roads to reach Islamabad."
