K-pop fans, artists, and stores across the globe have expressed their discontent over SM Entertainment’s treatment of Hong Seunghan, a member of the boy group RIIZE. On October 11, 2024, SM Entertainment announced Seunghan's gradual return to the group.

However, just two days later, the company retracted the decision, stating that Seunghan would be permanently leaving RIIZE. According to a statement from SM’s Wizard Production, the decision was made by Seunghan himself to avoid further harm to the group and fans.

Following the announcement, Seunghan shared a handwritten letter on WeVerse, expressing his regret for leaving RIIZE but acknowledging that it was the best decision to prevent more conflict among fans and protect the group’s dynamic. The news sparked protests among international fans, with hashtags like “#JUSTICE_FOR_SEUNGHAN” and “#SMSupportsBullying” trending online. K-pop stores have also joined the protests by boycotting RIIZE albums, stating that they do not support bullying.

Artists such as Super Junior's Leeteuk and singer eaJ voiced their support for Seunghan. eaJ criticized the act of sending funeral wreaths to SM’s headquarters, calling it “disgusting” and suggesting that those responsible should face legal consequences. Fans worldwide continue to advocate for Seunghan’s return, condemning SM Entertainment’s handling of the situation.
