ISLAMABAD:

After the passage of the 26th Constitutional Amendment Bill by both house of parliament, President Asif Zardari would give his assent to the bill during a special ceremony at the Aiwan-e-Sadr on Monday (today), source said.

The 26th Constitutional Amendment Bill was passed by the Senate with a two-thirds majority, on Sunday. The bill was then tabled in the National Assembly in the wee hours of Monday.

Later, it was also passed by the lower house with a two-thirds majority.

The sources said that a special ceremony would be held at the President's House on the approval of the bill in which President Zardari would sign it. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and parliamentary leaders of other parties would participate in the ceremony, they added.
