Cops injured in clash with illegal sand, gravel lifters

Mines and Minerals Police launched an operation against illicit sand extraction sites near the M9 Motorway within the Loni police station jurisdiction. The crackdown targeted vehicles transporting gravel from unauthorised sources.

However, the operation turned violent when more than 13 assailants attacked the Mines and Minerals Police with sticks and axes. The perpetrators fled, leaving multiple officers seriously injured.

The Lonikot police arrived at the scene and shifted the injured to Civil Hospital Hyderabad. A case has been filed against the owners involved in the attack at Lonikot police station. The report stated that Mines and Minerals Department Police Inspector Shafiq Tanoli, Head Constable Allah Dino, Constable Shahid Mehmood, and other officials were taking action against illegal sand operations. Four trucks carrying illegal sand and gravel were stopped by the police. However, the suspects attacked the police with axes, knives, and sticks, resulting in serious injuries to three officials.
