IBA test mandatory for top positions in Sindh edu boards
The Department of Boards and Universities in Sindh has partnered with the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) to conduct a mandatory test for the posts of chairman, controller, secretary, and audit officer in the education boards across the province.
Boards and Universities Secretary Abbas Baloch has submitted a summary to Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah which states that on November 27, 2023, a proposal was sent to his office regarding appointments against different positions in the education boards across the province. The chief minister authorised the publication of an advertisement and the subsequent selection of candidates by a search committee to fill the vacant positions of chairman, secretary, controller, and audit officer.
Following the advertisement of these vacancies, several petitions were filed in the Sindh High Court (SHC) challenging the appointment process. The court set aside the injunction in HCA 47/2024 and gave the green light to the Department of Boards and Universities to proceed with the appointment process via a search committee. This paved the way for the Department of Boards and Universities Search Committee Act 2022 to kick in, facilitating the swift appointment of key officers through a competitive process jointly conducted by IBA Karachi and the Search Committee.
Sindh Higher Education Commission's chairman has revealed that due to the overwhelming number of applicants - exceeding 200 - the commission has decided to conduct a test through IBA Karachi, so that the interview process can be limited to the most outstanding candidates.
