HARIPUR:

A historic mosque, over 150 years old, has gained recognition after a photography competition organised by the district administration. Ayesha Aziz secured first place in the competition. Deputy Commissioner Shozab Abbas initiated the event to promote the beautiful historical and recreational sites of Haripur district, attracting a large number of young participants.

Among the submissions was a photograph of an ancient mosque located near the Khanpur Dam. The public has urged the Deputy Commissioner to ensure proper maintenance and cleanliness of this historic mosque to encourage tourism in the district.

Ayesha's father praised the Deputy Commissioner's efforts, noting that this initiative serves as a milestone for the better education of future generations.

Tariq Aziz, Ayesha's father, emphasised the importance of continuing the productive use of social media and organising competitions in arts, culture, and creativity, so that children can stay abreast of future challenges.

Ayesha presented her photographs for the exhibition, and the public actively participated in voting and providing feedback. The ancient mosque's picture ultimately won the competition. This mosque, known as Masjid Rajgan, was built in 1872 by Sultan Raja Jehanda Khan and is situated on the shores of the Khanpur Dam.

Deputy Commissioner Abbas personally awarded Ayesha with a cash prize and a certificate of appreciation for her winning entry. The public commended the Deputy Commissioner for positively promoting the district's beautiful locations, with Ayesha's winning photograph receiving significant attention on social media. Residents believe that organising such events highlights regional beauty, boosts tourism, and encourages students. They called for the district administration to hold more events on a larger scale.
