Pakistani delegation attends 59th DGCA conference in Philippines

International Civil Aviation Organization-held event attracts more than 320 delegates from 44 member states

Pakistan took part in the 59th Conference of Directors General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for Asia and Pacific Regions, held from October 14 to 18 in Cebu.

The Pakistani delegation, led by Director General of Civil Aviation Nadir Shafiq Dar, engaged in meetings with global regulators, including delegations from Singapore, the UK, and Transport Canada.

During the conference, the Pakistani team also met with officials from the UAE, France, Sri Lanka, and Nepal.

These discussions focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation, training, and capacity building.

The delegation presented three discussion papers on aviation safety and air navigation, contributing to the conference's overarching theme of "Shaping the Future of Aviation: Sustainable, Resilient, and Inclusive."

The event was organized by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and saw participation from over 320 delegates representing 44 member states and international organizations.

Key discussions covered various topics such as aviation safety, air navigation, security, environmental issues, and technological advancements in the aviation sector.

Victor Liu, Director-General of Civil Aviation from Hong Kong, moderated a session on aviation safety that included discussions on safety management and the application of artificial intelligence technologies.

The Hong Kong delegation also submitted four papers, including one highlighting the use of autonomous vehicle technology at Hong Kong International Airport to improve safety and efficiency.

The Hong Kong International Aviation Academy (HKIAA) showcased its training programs and presented a paper addressing the training needs of the Asia Pacific region.

Delegates participated in side meetings with various aviation authorities, including the European Union Aviation Safety Agency and the Federal Aviation Administration, to explore opportunities for collaboration.

The CAD is committed to maintaining close cooperation with aviation partners and supporting ICAO's global aviation development initiatives.
