PESHAWAR:

An anti-terrorism court has issued an order to arrest three accused in the May 9 riots and vandalism case due to their failure to appear in court, and to present them on October 19.

When the ATC Judge Muhammad Iqbal began hearing the case on Wednesday, the three accused – Abdul Rehman, Abdul Jabbar Baghi, and Lutf Ali – did not appear in court, preventing their statements from being recorded.

The court ordered their arrest and instructed that they be presented at the next hearing.

According to the prosecution, the accused, along with others, protested on May 9, 2023, in front of Qila Bala Hisar following the arrest of former Prime Minister and founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan.

During the protest, they damaged government and private property, including the VIP gate. A citizen was also killed during the protest, after which a case was registered against the accused at Khan Raziq Shaheed police station.
