ABBOTTABAD:

Ayub Medical and Teaching Institution (AMTI) Board of Governors (BOG) has ordered action against the contractor and head of the relevant department for the delay in the completion of the ongoing construction of the operation theatres (OTs) at the hospital running under its auspices.

BOG Chairman Professor Dr Abid Jameel visited the hospital and college, expressing serious concern over the delay in the completion of the ongoing construction of the OTs.

He ordered strict action against both the contractor and the department in charge for failing to meet the deadlines.

Accompanied by Member BOG Jafar Shah, CEO and Dean Dr Saqib Malik, Medical Director Dr Alamzeb Swati, Hospital Director Dr Dawood Iqbal, and other departmental heads, Professor Jameel's tour began at the college, where he reviewed multiple departments and announced immediate corrective measures.

At the Skill Lab, Dr Sadia Habib, Director of Medical Education (DME), briefed Professor Jameel on the lab's performance and challenges.

He directed the immediate resolution of these issues, instructing that the post of Skill Lab in-charge be advertised and a temporary staff member appointed to provide consistent support to students.

The chairman also inspected the old dental building for the construction of IBPP OT rooms. During his visit to the surgical OT, he expressed frustration at the delayed construction and ordered swift punitive action against those responsible.

He further directed that the construction of the surgical ICU be expedited.
