Sources within the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party have indicated that three members of the National Assembly may vote in favour of the 26th constitutional amendment, as they have reportedly lost contact with party leadership.
PTI sources disclosed that the absence of these three assembly members raises concerns regarding their allegiance.
Notably, independent candidate Aurangzeb Khichi from NA-59 has been unreachable by PTI leadership. Similarly, Osman Ali, another independent member elected from Sahiwal, is also reported to have severed communication with the party.
According to insiders, Zahoor Qureshi has been evasive with the PTI leadership, claiming he is abroad, although he is reportedly still in the country. This has led to speculation that these independent members might support the constitutional amendment.
The situation is further complicated as President Asif Ali Zardari has summoned separate sessions of the National Assembly and the Senate, where the draft of the 26th constitutional amendment is expected to be presented.
Meanwhile, the PTI is contemplating a boycott of the upcoming National Assembly session convened to discuss the constitutional amendment.
