Twitch has banned music streamer DJ Akademiks for the fourth time in his career, following a collaboration with Adin Ross, a streamer who was banned from Twitch in 2023 for violating community guidelines.
DJ Akademiks, whose real name is Livingston, has made a name for himself reporting on pop culture, hip-hop news, and internet drama. He started on YouTube, reporting on instances of gang violence in Chicago, and later found himself a spot on Complex's Everyday Struggle. From there, Akademiks' popularity blew up, and he started streaming on Twitch, where he reviewed the industry's latest news.
The ban comes after Akademiks and Adin Ross investigated a particular case dealing with Onlyfans models and STDs during a live stream on October 15. The nature of this content may have been too sensitive to be discussed on Twitch, and Adin Ross' presence on the stream may have also contributed to the ban.
Adin Ross was banned from Twitch in 2023 for unmoderated hateful conduct displayed in the chat during one of his broadcasts. Specifically, Ross had shown chat messages from his Kick stream on Twitch, which included multiple offensive comments that he did not moderate.
The ban has left Akademiks' channel down, with no estimate as to when it might be back up. Akademiks has yet to come out with a statement addressing the ban.
