ABC News has countered claims made by Vice President Kamala Harris' campaign that former President Donald Trump experienced a "senior moment" during a recent town hall event.
The claims, which were part of a broader effort to suggest cognitive decline, gained traction online with the hashtag #TrumpIsNotWell trending on social media. However, reports from the event in Oaks, Pennsylvania, presented a different perspective.
The town hall, held at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center and Fairgrounds, was moderated by South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem. During the event, two attendees experienced medical emergencies, reportedly due to overheating. Trump adjusted to the situation by continuing the event, later turning it into a more casual and interactive session with the audience. After ensuring the medical situations were resolved, Trump stepped off the stage, mingled with supporters, and even participated in an impromptu music session.
Terry Moran, ABC News senior national correspondent, reported from the scene, noting the contrast between social media reactions and the atmosphere inside the hall. “In certain corners of social media, people had a field day with that. But inside that hall, people were having a good time. It seemed almost intimate,” Moran stated, emphasizing that Trump appeared at ease and engaged with his supporters.
Governor Noem also commended Trump’s ability to manage the situation, stating, “He always knows how to connect with the people, even in unexpected situations.”
