Hafiz Naeem demands Palestine issue be raised at SCO summit

JI chief urges member nations should collectively condemn atrocities in Gaza, warns India against supporting Israel

Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Chief Hafiz Naeemur Rehman urged that the ongoing Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Islamabad should include discussions on the Palestine issue and condemn the violence in Gaza. 

Speaking to the media in Faisalabad on Tuesday, Rehman stated, "The government convened the Gaza All Parties Conference (APC) on JI’s suggestion. The SCO summit must address the Palestinian issue, and the organization’s members should collectively condemn the atrocities in Gaza. If India supports Israel, it will find itself isolated."

Rehman also stated that political parties, including Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), have the right to voice their concerns within the constitutional framework. He added that JI had peacefully protested against electricity price hikes and had raised its voice for the PTI during times of political unrest.

He criticised nationalist factions for supporting both the US and Russia during Afghanistan's conflicts, while reaffirming that JI always stood with the Pashtun community.

Rehman further urged political parties not to delve into the proposed constitutional amendments clause by clause but to reject them entirely, suggesting the matter could be revisited after the current Chief Justice’s term.

Rehman also voiced support for Faisalabad’s traders, highlighting the city’s significance to Pakistan’s economy and calling for the resolution of their ongoing grievances.
