Gypsy Rose Blanchard speaks out on Erik and Lyle Menendez case after Netflix documentary
Gypsy Rose Blanchard has shared words of support for the Menendez brothers.
Blanchard, who is expecting her first child, admitted to TMZ that she is "not very educated" on the details of the Menendez case—which has garnered global attention following the October 7 release of the Netflix documentary The Menendez Brothers—but reaffirmed her dedication to ensuring abuse victims' rights are acknowledged.
"I'm an advocate for abuse victims in general and I'm all about prison reform so if the case is being reviewed, then hopefully something can be done," she said. "Abuse victims need to be advocated for more."
Blanchard also gave advice to Erik and Lyle Menendez, should they be released from prison. She advised that if the brothers, who were convicted of killing their parents in Beverly Hills in 1989, are granted a new trial or resentencing, they should not rush their reintegration into society.
"It's very difficult to come out to a world that has changed so much even in the time that I spent in prison. I would say take your time, you know, adjust properly," Blanchard told the outlet.
Blanchard was freed from Missouri's Chillicothe Correctional Centre in December 2023, after serving seven years for pleading guilty to the 2015 second-degree murder of her abusive mother, Clauddine 'Dee Dee' Blanchard.
