ISLAMABAD:

The Pakistan Railways (PR) is planning the construction of a 105-kilometer railway line to link the Thar Coal mines with Port Qasim.

"The department has already awarded the contract, with completion scheduled for October 2025," an official in the Ministry of Railways told APP.

The project aims to bolster the nation's bulk transportation capabilities, aligning with broader economic growth objectives and facilitating coal transportation across the country, he added. "The project is a joint venture financed by both the Sindh and federal governments."
