The Walled City of Lahore Authority (WCLA) organized the Lahore Heritage Run on Sunday.
The competition was organised inside the walled city in collaboration with Lahore Runners, the largest running club in the metropolis. The race began from the food street, passed historical landmarks of the walled city for 7km and concluded at the same point.
Around 450 people, including women and children, from different parts of the country took part in the competition. The objective of organising the race was to spread awareness about community health, tourism and heritage sites.
WCLA Tourism Deputy Director Asghar Hussain said, "Our efforts are strongly focused on promoting tourism in Lahore and we recognise the significant role that sports activities play in supporting this goal by encouraging public participation."
He said the event had attracted an unexpectedly large number of participants. "We are committed to organising more sports events in the future to raise awareness not only about health and fitness but also about the rich heritage of Lahore," he added.
WCLA Marketing Director Tania Qureshi said, "The preservation of heritage extends beyond merely conserving architectural structures."
