Daisy Edgar-Jones to take on Elizabeth Bennet role in new "Pride & Prejudice" Netflix series
Rising star Daisy Edgar-Jones is reportedly stepping into the iconic role of Elizabeth Bennet for a new Netflix series adaptation of Jane Austen’s Pride & Prejudice. The beloved novel, which was last adapted for television in 1995 with Colin Firth and Kiera Knightley famously starring in the 2005 film version, is being revived with a modern lens.
According to a report by Daily Mail, this latest version of Pride & Prejudice is being scripted by Dolly Alderton, the writer behind the successful TV adaptation of her memoir, Everything I Know About Love. Fans can expect Edgar-Jones, who rose to prominence through her Golden Globe-nominated performance in Normal People, to bring a fresh take on Elizabeth Bennet's character, while maintaining the classic charm of Austen's original work.
Edgar-Jones has made waves in the film and television industry with performances in Where the Crawdads Sing, Under the Banner of Heaven, and Fresh. Now, she’s set to channel the role that made Knightley a household name, as she gears up for this exciting period drama series.
While Netflix has yet to make an official announcement, the series is rumored to release by the end of next year, adding another highly anticipated project to the streaming giant’s lineup of literary adaptations.
