Auto parts shop owner shot dead in Karachi's North Nazimabad

Victim is identified as Asif who owned motorcycle spare parts shop at Aurangzeb Market on M.A. Jinnah Road

KARACHI:

An auto parts shop owner was shot and killed in a targeted attack near the Asghar Ali Shah Stadium, close to the Hasrat Mohani Library, in North Nazimabad, Karachi, on Friday night.

According to SHO North Nazimabad, Adeel Ahmed, the victim has been identified as 55-year-old Asif, who owned a motorcycle spare parts shop at Aurangzeb Market on M.A. Jinnah Road.

Asif was on his way home to Block A, North Nazimabad, when the incident occurred.

He was accompanied by his brother and an employee in the car.

Preliminary investigations suggest that Asif was driving the car when two armed individuals on a motorcycle signaled him to stop.

In an attempt to evade them, Asif reversed the vehicle, at which point the suspects opened fire. A bullet hit him in the right side of his chest, leaving him critically injured.

He was rushed to a nearby private hospital, but doctors pronounced him dead upon arrival.

Police have launched an investigation, and efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the attackers.

Further details about the motive behind the shooting are yet to be determined.

North Nazimabad has faced shooting incidents in recent times including two Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers being injured in a robbery attempt after resisting street criminals, Express News reported.

Previously, rickshaw driver was shot and killed in an ambush reportedly motivated by revenge for a prior attempted murder on Shadab Colony, Jhang Road.

Yousuf, 35 was attacked by rivals, including Zeeshan alias Shani.

During the attack, a bullet hit the petrol tank of his rickshaw, causing it to explode into flames and burn to ashes.
