BERLIN: Jamaica’s world 100-metre champion Yohan Blake equalled his personal best of 9.82 seconds to break the old meet record of 9.86 held jointly by compatriot Asafa Powell and former American great Maurice Greene. The 21-year-old led home 2001 world champion Kim Collins of Saint Kitts and Nevis and Richard Thompson of Trinidad and Tobago. Despite being one of the slowest out of the blocks, Blake accelerated past early leader Collins, who took bronze in Daegu, and put plenty of daylight between himself and the rest of the field at the finish.
