Call of Duty brings back Nuketown in ‘Black Ops 6’

Call of Duty’s iconic Nuketown map returns in ‘Black Ops 6,’ releasing on November 1 after a four-year absence.

Call of Duty is bringing back the iconic multiplayer map Nuketown in 'Black Ops 6' after a four-year absence. 

The fan-favorite map, which first appeared in 'Black Ops 2' in 2012, has since featured in multiple titles and is beloved alongside other classic maps like Shipment.

Treyarch, the game’s developer, announced that Nuketown will be available on November 1, one week after 'Black Ops 6' launches on October 25. However, it remains unclear from the teaser whether this version will stay true to the original design or introduce changes to the layout.

While fans are excited about Nuketown’s return, some concerns persist. Players have voiced frustration about 'Black Ops 6'’s emphasis on smaller maps. The game is set to launch with 16 multiplayer maps, divided into four smaller Strike maps for 2v2 or 6v6 matches, and 12 Core maps designed for traditional 6v6 gameplay.

Treyarch confirmed that most Core maps will be medium-sized, but fans worried about an excess of small maps are uncertain about how Nuketown, one of the smallest in Call of Duty history, will be received. However, with eight Core maps still unrevealed, there is potential for larger maps to balance the experience.

Additionally, a new map inspired by Nuketown, called Area 99, will be featured in the Resurgence Warzone mode. With Nuketown’s return and fresh adaptations, 'Black Ops 6' aims to deliver both nostalgia and new experiences.
