Tyler, The Creator made waves at ACL Fest with a bold lyrical switch during his performance of the 2017 track "911/Mr. Lonely."

The rapper, known for his irreverence and honesty, altered the original shout-out to Elon Musk, instead delivering the line: "Man, f*ck Elon" to a thrilled audience.

This shift in tone reflects a significant change in Tyler’s stance toward the Tesla founder, whom he once admired.

In the original version of "911/Mr. Lonely," Tyler’s reference to Musk was neutral and playful: "Sucks you can't gas me up, shout out to Elon."

However, with Musk becoming increasingly controversial in recent years, the rapper’s public sentiment appears to have soured.

This diss was surprising given Tyler’s previous support for Musk. Back in 2016, Tyler took to Twitter to express his admiration, writing, "@elonmusk I LOVE YOU THANK YOU FOR CHANGING THE WORLD." He praised Musk for his work in advancing electric vehicles and for standing up against "the evil oil men who run the world." At the time, Tyler clearly saw Musk as a revolutionary figure.

During a 2015 appearance on Hot 97, Tyler went further, comparing Musk’s influence to that of rap icons like JAY-Z, Master P, and Diddy.

He applauded the tech entrepreneur for his visionary accomplishments, even putting him in the same league as these legendary music moguls. However, Tyler’s recent performance at ACL Fest marks the end of those sentiments.

Now, as Elon Musk faces criticism from various corners of pop culture, Tyler, The Creator has joined the ranks of those disillusioned with the billionaire, signaling a shift in how Musk is viewed by many.
