The Special Anti-Terrorism Court has indicted 25 leaders, former MLAs and former ministers, including PTI's main female leader Alia Hamza and President Islamabad Aamir Mughal in two cases related to the September 28 protest of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
The court has issued non-bailable arrest warrants and ordered to arrest them and produce them in court on October 21. These arrest warrants were issued in the cases registered in New Town police station and Waris Khan police station.
The leaders for whom non-bailable arrest warrants have been issued include former provincial minister Raja Rashid Hafeez, Colonel Ajmal Saber, former MPA Omar Tanveer Butt, National Assembly candidate Shehryar Riaz, Khaleeq Ziad Kayani and Assembly candidate Taimur Masood.
The warrant applications for their arrest were filed by the investigating officers of both the police stations who had taken the stand that all of them have gone into hiding, and hence warrants should be issued for their arrest.
