A man died, and 19 News reporter Winnie Dortch was seriously injured in a shooting on Monday morning in Lakewood, Ohio.
According to police, the incident occurred during a domestic dispute on Chase Avenue, just south of Clifton Boulevard. Authorities were called to the scene shortly before 8 a.m. and found the man and Dortch on the sidewalk with gunshot wounds.
The man, who allegedly shot Dortch and then turned the gun on himself, was pronounced dead at the scene. Dortch was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries. Police believe the two were familiar with each other, though the nature of their relationship is still under investigation. A firearm was recovered at the scene.
The staff at 19 News expressed their heartbreak and are wishing Dortch a speedy and full recovery. Lakewood detectives are continuing their investigation into what led to the tragic incident.
