Madonna has shared a touching tribute to her late brother, Christopher Gerard Ciccone, who passed away on October 4.
Christopher died "peacefully" at the age of 63, with his husband by his side, as confirmed by a representative to PEOPLE.
In an Instagram post on October 6, Madonna reflected on the deep connection she shared with Christopher, describing him as "the closest human to me for so long."
The 66-year-old singer shared several images of them together over the years, recalling their bond and early memories of growing up.
Madonna wrote, "It’s hard to explain our bond. But it grew out of an understanding that we were different, and society was going to give us a hard time for not following the status quo." She emphasized how dance became their mutual escape, saying, "We took each other’s hands and we danced through the madness of our childhood... dance was a kind of superglue that held us together."
Christopher was an integral part of Madonna’s early career, working as a designer and creative consultant. While their relationship had its public ups and downs over the years, Madonna's tribute highlights the lasting connection they shared. "I know he's dancing somewhere," she added.
