Punjab's Information Minister, Azma Bukhari, has criticised the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, suggesting that its leaders are attempting to replicate the chaos that led to the formation of Bangladesh.

Speaking at a press conference, she expressed concerns over recent PTI protests in Islamabad, stating that the party's activities are designed to incite unrest and confusion.

Bukhari claimed that the PTI has been using resources from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa to fuel its agenda against the federal government. She pointed out that during a recent protest, 120 Afghan nationals were apprehended, and one police constable lost his life, questioning the rationale behind such violence.

“The PTI leadership wanted to create a scenario akin to that of Khalida Zia's era but failed miserably,” the Punjab Information Minister stated, referencing the historical context of political turmoil.

Bukhari emphasised that children and innocent people were manipulated into participating in protests, only to realise they were being used for violent objectives.

She further accused PTI activists of coming armed with weapons, questioning the legitimacy of their claims to be a peaceful political entity. Bukhari highlighted the destruction of police vehicles and the vandalism of security cameras during the protests, asserting that such actions were an affront to the state.

The minister urged the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to reflect on why their province is not developing like Punjab and called for accountability from PTI leaders. She accused them of plotting to destabilise the country while hiding behind their political ambitions.

In a stark warning, Bukhari indicated that attempts to sabotage upcoming events, such as the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation meeting, would not be tolerated.

She concluded by suggesting that the PTI should be banned for its alleged treasonous activities and its leaders held accountable for their actions.
