Adiala Jail suspends all prisoner visits until October 18

Adiala Jail has announced a ban on all visits to prisoners until October 18.

The ban applies to all types of meetings, including those involving prominent inmates like Imran Khan, the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, along with family members and legal representatives.

Sources indicate that the decision to impose this restriction was taken due to security concerns.

According to Express News, the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit in Islamabad has prompted authorities to adopt heightened security protocols in the twin cities, which include Rawalpindi where Adiala Jail is located.

The Punjab government is overseeing the implementation of this ban, which affects not only high-profile prisoners but all inmates within the facility.

Previously, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi accused the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) of trying to disrupt the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit. He emphasized that the government is committed to ensuring that these plans do not succeed.

Army Deployed for SCO Summit Security

The Pakistan Army has been called in to provide security for the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit, scheduled to take place in Islamabad on 15-16 October.

The deployment was approved under Article 245 of the Constitution, according to a notification issued by the Interior Ministry on Friday.

While the Rangers are already stationed in the capital, the military will take over security duties from 5 to 17 October, ensuring heightened protection during the summit.
