Indian fans erupted in anger after a controversial medal distribution ceremony in the dressing room following the team's crushing defeat in Women’s T20 World Cup.

New Zealand defeated India by 58 runs in a one-sided match at the Dubai Cricket Stadium, marking a poor start for the Indian team in the tournament.

The match saw several dropped catches and a lacklustre fielding performance by the Indian side, which played a significant role in their downfall.

Despite the disappointing performance, the Indian team management awarded Jemimah Rodrigues a medal for her good fielding efforts in an attempt to boost team morale.

This decision, however, did not sit well with Indian fans, who flooded social media with criticism.

Fans questioned why medals were being awarded despite the team’s poor overall performance, with many calling it an inappropriate gesture after such a humiliating loss.

Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur presented the medal, and a video of the moment was shared online, further fuelling the backlash from fans who believed that the team’s lacklustre performance should not be rewarded in such a way.

Following the defeat, India finds itself at the bottom of Group A, with a difficult path ahead. To reach the semi-finals, India must win all of its remaining matches in the group stage.

Meanwhile, the Indian team is gearing up for a high-pressure clash against arch-rival Pakistan tomorrow, with added pressure after Pakistan secured a win in their opening match.
