 Victory over Sri Lanka in WC opener match

Previously, Pakistan put on a stellar bowling performance as Sri Lanka faltered in their chase, managing only 85 runs for the loss of nine wickets. Sadia Iqbal led the charge, taking three crucial wickets, while Omaima Sohail, Nashra Sandhu, and Fatima Sana claimed two wickets each.

Despite resistance from Nilakshika Silva and Vishmi Gunaratne, Sri Lanka fell 31 runs short of the 117-run target.

Earlier, Pakistan’s batting lineup struggled as Sri Lankan bowlers dominated the early part of the match. Sugandika Kumari dismissed openers Muneeba Ali and Gull Feroza, leaving Pakistan at 17/2 within four overs.

Captain Chamari Athapaththu further weakened Pakistan's top order by taking the wicket of Sidra Amin.

However, a late surge from Fatima Sana, who scored 30 off 20 balls, helped Pakistan post a defendable total of 116.

For Sri Lanka, Chamari Athapaththu, Sugandika Kumari, and Udeshika Prabodhani each claimed three wickets, while Kavisha Dilhari took one.

However, Sri Lanka’s inability to form solid partnerships in their chase, combined with Pakistan’s disciplined bowling, resulted in a decisive victory for Pakistan.
